The mission of Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council is to provide programs and services which support older adults and their families by encouraging independence, well-being, and connection to the community. 
 

PTSCC is a private, not-for-profit organization in Palatine, IL, a northwest suburb of Chicago, that operates the Palatine Township Senior Center. We are one of three accredited senior centers in the state of Illinois and one of 130 nationally.

Our Programs Include:

 

  • AARP Driver Safety Program: 2-day defensive driving class which may result in an insurance discount
  • AARP Tax Aide- offers free tax preparation help to anyone, with special attention to those over the age of 50 who cannot afford a tax preparation service
  • Ask-The-Nurse Program- provides blood pressure checks and answer your specific health and wellness questions. Services are free and no appointment is necessary.
  • ​Adult Day Services- for those with mild to moderate memory loss that gives those caring for them a break during the day. Offered three days per week, Monday through Wednesday, from 11am to 3pm, this program offers exercise and socialization in a safe environment.
  • Benefits Eligiblity Screening- Our Social Services staff can provide one-on-one assistance to help determine benefits available to you.
  • Bereavement Group- This group meets the last Monday of the month at 10:00AM. Call the main office at (847) 991-1112 to reserve your spot.
  • Book Club- meets once a month in the library. This month's book is available for pick-up at the center by calling the main office at (847) 991-1112.
  • Dial-A-Ride- Palatine Township operates a minibus door-to-door service for seniors and permanently handicapped individuals living within the township boundaries. Call the Township office at (847) 358-6907 for further information.
  • Home Delivered Meals- General and special diet meals are available to homebound residents aged 60 and over who are unable to prepare meals for themselves.
  • Lending Closet- Durable medical equipment, such as walkers, wheelchairs, canes and crutches are available for rental for up to 3 months.
  • Senior Health Insurance Program- Counselors are available to assist individuals with questions or problems regarding Medicare A and B, Medicare Supplement Policies, Medicaid, Prescription Drug Plans, Medicare Advantage plans, eligibility for entitlement programs, appealing claims denials and grievances.
  • Take Off Pounds Sensibly (or T.O.P.S.)- T.O.P.S. is a weight-loss support group. If you need encouragement while dropping a few pounds, this group is for you. Contact Nancy Thommes at (847) 397-7648 or for information.
  • Technology Lab- The Technology Lab is open on Thursdays from 10AM-noon. Our volunteers can help with computer, tablet, and phone support.
