Dementia for Healthcare Professionals Meeting IDPH Requirements
This educational class will help professionals understand the most common forms of dementia and their treatment. This is a fast-paced educational segment for those who don't typically work with persons living with dementia. Participants will learn about memory loss and communication changes that occur, effective strategies to communicate and engage with a person living with dementia (PLWD), and it meets the Illinois Department of Public Health requirements for dementia training.
1.5 hours education
Typical Professions: Social workers, nurses, physicians, physical therapist, occupational therapist, respiratory therapist, speech language pathologist, physician assistants, podiatrists, clinical psychologists, optometrists, and counselors.

Dementia Capable Care™
The Dementia Capable Care program offers the understanding of dementia, how to effectively communicate with individuals with dementia, assist individuals with activities of daily living, problem solving for those who exhibit challenging behavior, fundamentals of dementia care, safe environments, and managing the activities of a person living with dementia. In-depth program for professionals who want to renew their knowledge of dementia or those beginning their career working with persons living with dementia. This course includes a registration fee, the educational workbook, continental breakfast, lunch, post test, and specialist credential.
6.5 hours education
Typical Professions: Social workers, case managers, memory support staff, and home care providers.
Dementia Reality™
The first dementia instruction program combining skills training with real-life obstacles in a virtual environment. The cutting-edge education utilizes virtual reality technology to provide an immersive caregiving experience. Dementia Reality utilizes both a caregiver's and first-person perspective of a person living with dementia to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to provide excellent person-centered care and improve outcomes.
Dementia Reality is a collaboration between Elderwerks Educational Services and CJE SeniorLife.
1.5 hours education per module (6 modules)
Typical Professions: Front-line staff, CNAs, professional caregivers, social workers, case managers, nurses, memory support staff, and any professional who works with persons living with dementia.
Dementia Enrichment Classes
Elderwerks has produced dozens of dementia educational classes for professionals wanting to develop their skills. Each educational program is developed for beginner, intermediate, and professionals wanting to further their education.
Each of the above educational opportunities will help individuals understand people living with dementia, how to successfully engage, and in the end, perform better in their positions.
