Senior Advisor
The Senior Advisor represents Elderwerks at events, visits all the senior communities within a 20 mile radius (or more) of their non-exclusive territory, builds relationships, and helps seniors and their families.
 
Overview:
  • Support seniors and families with their senior housing and home care needs.
  • Answer questions about any aging topic and refer support services to ensure they are legally supported; they receive the benefits due and are offered any other important services to help them at home or transition to senior housing.
  • Refer appropriate communities and home care agencies without bias regarding your income. Builds and maintains relationships with both the professional community and public-at-large to increase the visibility of Elderwerks in the community.
  • Reaches across all levels and departments to identify what makes Elderwerks unique and communicates it to the public 
  • Represents Elderwerks at networking events, outreach opportunities, trade shows, and conferences in conjunction with Elderwerks employees.
  • Create a respectful reputation representing Elderwerks as a not-for-profit.
  • Advances the mission and goals of Elderwerks through planning, developing, implementing, and organizing special events, including community outreach programs, that will positively influence public opinion and promote Elderwerks.
  • Help deliver innovative marketing campaigns.
  • Assists with and helps manage Continuing Education events. All CEs are managed and approved by the Director of Education.
  • Partners with the Director of Education, Education Specialist, and Strategy Director to help meet the needs of the professionals with continuing education.
  • Able to meet multiple demands and diverse needs in fast-paced, changing environments.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work extremely well as part of a team.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent persuasion and negotiation skills, and ability to build rapport.
  • Strong analytical skills partnered with a creative mind.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering engaging, articulate audience presentations.
  • Ability to evaluate the cost of a program and determine the relative benefits for the organization.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive or controversial subjects with tact, kindness, and professionalism.
  • Must have a background in the senior industry. 
  • Must be proficient in Apple iPhones and iPads.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, or related software. 
  • Must be empathetic and want to help seniors.
  • Must be able to work independently at home with supportive computer equipment and an iPad or laptop to assist when on the road.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Previous experience will be reviewed.

Prairie Council on Aging has 11 sites for meal distribution across Morgan, Cass and Scott Counties.

We are looking for (1) individual to travel amongst all sites as a substitute M-F.

The requirements are to follow food sanitation standards, receive bulk trays of food, prepare individual servings and deliver to seniors as needed. Additionally, completion of grant related paperwork is required. This involves marking who ate and ordering meals for the next day. Prairie Council would like the candidate to be organized, reliable, regarding attendance and accurate in both completing paperwork and measuring individual servings. Enthusiasm, patience, and love of seniors is also required. A plus would be a food handlers' certification but is not required.

Join the team that cares for others while providing healthy ready to eat hot food. Prairie Council combats social isolation at the same time as a meal.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
