Specialized care for older adults like you.

At Oak Street Health, we specialize in outstanding care for older adults. And you don’t have to lift a finger. From dedicated doctors and care team members who take the time to know and understand your individual health needs to help with Medicare and insurance paperwork, we help eliminate the hassles to help you take care of yourself.

You’re not just a name on a chart. That’s why our primary care doctors and each and every member of our care team take the time to get to know you. In fact, we have longer appointment times so our providers can spend more time with you and you won’t feel rushed.

Wellness is at the heart of everything we do. We’re dedicated to helping you take greater control of your health through regular checkups, thorough exams, and connecting you to the services you need and deserve to reach your health goals.

While your primary care doctor can handle most health issues, there are times when you may need the added support of a specialist. When that’s the case, we’ll help you find the right person and coordinate your care to make sure you have the best care possible to meet your needs.

Getting the most from your Medicare plan can be a game-changer, so your choice of plan is key. As an Oak Street Health patient, you have a personal Medicare specialist to help you understand your options so you can make the best decision on what’s right for you.

Staying active and healthy means making sure you have comprehensive quality care when you need it. Patients may also qualify for our clinical programs, including mental healthcare, advanced care planning, disease management, and mail-order Rx and over-the-counter delivery service.

Our Commitment, Over 40 Years

Barrington Orthopedic Specialists was established in 1980 by founder Dr. Keith Schroeder, Orthopedic Surgeon. His philosophy, which remains today, is to treat patients as you would want to be treated. It all begins with listening to our patients and taking the time to perform a thorough evaluation in order to make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

The practice has grown through the years and offers an impressive roster of orthopedic surgeons, podiatric surgeons, and physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists all committed to providing exceptional care. Our physicians use cutting-edge technology to assess, diagnose, and work closely with patients to develop an innovative treatment plan for a variety of orthopedic conditions and injuries. Our commitment to our patients is to deliver the highest-quality care and comprehensive treatment to restore functional ability.

Barrington Orthopedic Specialists offers additional in-house services which includes a Rehabilitation Department at all locations offering physical therapy, occupational therapy, work conditioning, functional capacity evaluations and fitness enhancement programs. Our Schaumburg location offers an Immediate Orthopedic Care, Ambulatory Surgery Center and MRI services.

Humanitarian Mission Trips

Many of the physicians at Barrington Orthopedic Specialists participate yearly in a mission trip where they volunteer their service to provide surgical treatment to patients that couldn’t afford it.

Dr. Narendra Patel, podiatric foot and ankle surgeon, has partnered with the American Microsurgical Orthoplastic Society (AMOS) to provide yearly humanitarian efforts for the surgical correction of lower limb, ankle and foot deformities to the people of Honduras. This twice yearly mission focuses on the indigenous people of Honduras to provide surgical corrective procedures they couldn’t afford on their own. It is completely voluntary from all the doctors and assistants that come. All materials are provided free of charge.

Dr. Paul Nourbash, orthopedic hip and knee joint reconstruction surgeon joined a group of amazing surgeons and volunteers with Operation Walk Virginia, on a trip to Panama in September 2019 to help unfortunate patients crippled with arthritis. During the week they treated 59 patients that were crippled due to arthritis and unable receive the medical care that they needed. The trip was a tremendous success. Dr. Nourbash states “he will never forget how much the patients were suffering from arthritis, how hard the patients worked to recover after surgery, and how generous all the volunteers were with their time and energy”. Dr. Nourbash is planning on returning yearly.

Community Events and Sponsorship

Our practice is committed to giving back to the community. We support local charities, and our staff are dedicated to volunteering in local events, making a difference in the lives of those within our community.

Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Center

assisted living services Captain James A. Lovell Federal Healthcare Center
The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) is a first-of-its-kind partnership between the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense (DoD), integrating all medical care into a federal health care facility with a single combined VA and Navy mission.

Lovell FHCC is located in North Chicago, Illinois, and was established on Oct. 1, 2010 when the former North Chicago VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the former Naval Health Clinic Great Lakes (NHCGL) merged their resources and services. A combined mission of the health care center means active duty military, their family members, military retirees and veterans are all cared for at the facility. The center cares for nearly 75,000 patients per year, including an estimated 40,000 Navy recruits who prepare for military service at Recruit Training Command at Naval Station Great Lakes.

In 2019, the resources of Lovell FHCC that provide medical care and support for Department of Defense beneficiaries were aligned under the management oversight of the Defense Health Agency. While DHA is responsible for health care delivery and business operations, Navy Medicine retains principle responsibility for operational readiness of the Navy and Marine Corps. To complement the transition, Navy Medicine established the co-located Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Great Lakes, to which all military personnel of Lovell FHCC are assigned.
