Communicate easier with advanced call captioning at no cost to people with hearing loss who need captions to use the phone.
About our basic, no-cost captioned phone
Sorenson Captioning phones are optimized for individuals with hearing loss. The unit uses voice-to-text technology, assisted by captioning agents and automated speech recognition, to transcribe your conversation so that other speakers’ words appear on your screen.
How can the Sorenson Captioning service be free?
Thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), funds are set aside to help people with hearing loss effectively use the telephone. Sorenson Captioning is an FCC-authorized captioned telephone service provider and is compensated for providing the captioning service by the Interstate Telecommunications Relay Service Fund, which is administered by the Federal Communications Commission.
Who qualifies to get Sorenson Captioning?
To be eligible to use Sorenson Captioning, you must have hearing loss that necessitates the use of captioned telephone service. At the time of installation, you will be required to complete a self-certification and provide other mandatory registration information.
