Why is Balance Important?

Nearly 1 in 4 senior adults 65 and older fall each year. Falls are one of the leading causes of injuries among older adults, resulting in broken bones and concussions. Falls can also lead to a lack of confidence and fear of falling again. And when a senior fears falling, they often reduce movement in hopes of reducing their fall risk. However, less movement can decrease strength, stability, and balance, resulting in an increased fall risk over time.
