What is the Senior Care Volunteer Network?
The Senior Care Volunteer Network is a not-for-profit program that works with individuals 60 years and older throughout McHenry County and Sun City Huntley. The organization supports independently living seniors by connecting volunteers with seniors who need assistance to maintain quality of life and dignity.
Volunteers play an essential role in the Senior Care Volunteer Network’s mission. Volunteers help seniors with transportation to medical appointments, friendly visits to isolated seniors, grocery shopping, food box deliveries, seasonal yardwork, and minor home repairs. SCVN also hosts a variety of events throughout the year to connect volunteers, seniors, and community members.
Those interested in volunteering with SCVN can learn more on the organization’s website.
What is the Lending Closet?
The Medical Equipment Loan Closet, also referred to as the lending closet, is the largest medical equipment loan closet in McHenry County. Anyone in need of medical equipment can borrow items from SCVN. All the items in the loan closet come from donations and are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized using medical-grade sanitation solutions. Some commonly donated items available for loan include wheelchairs, walkers, bedside commodes, shower chairs, transport chairs, canes, and knee walkers.
