Transportation Options for McHenry County Residents
There are four primary transportation programs available to residents of McHenry County.
Pace is a collection of buses that travel on a fixed route on a set schedule. They are a traditional bus service that is open to the public. Fare for Pace buses is collected at the time of boarding. There are reduced fare options available to seniors and people with disabilities. Email passenger.services@pacebus.com for more information, or call 800-606-1282.
MCRide is a countywide paratransit service whose buses do not travel on a fixed route. Riders can call 800-451-4599 to schedule a trip. Vehicles provide curb-to-curb service and door-to-door service upon request. MCRide transportation services are open to everyone, including non-residents. Like the Pace buses, the MCRide program offers reduced fares to seniors and those with disabilities. Email mcride@mchenrycountyil.gov for more information.
Connect is an on-demand transportation service for McHenry County adults with disabilities and seniors aged 65 and older. Riders can book trips through Uber or UZURV. Once the ride is booked, a voucher will be automatically applied up to $15 per ride. Vouchers are only valid for trips within Chicagoland. Email mcrideconnect@mchenrycountyil.gov or call 815-334-4981 for more information.
Senior Care Volunteer Network provides seniors with free transportation to medical appointments, grocery trips, and other outings. The eligibility requirements for transportation include being 60 years or older, and a resident of McHenry, Sun City, or Hntley. Riders must always be able to get into and out of vehicles with no assistance. Call 815-455-3120 to confirm eligibility.
