What is a SHIP Counselor?
A Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselor (also sometimes called a State Health Insurance Assistance Program Counselor) is an individual who empowers, educates, and assists Medicare-eligible individuals to make educated health insurance decisions. A SHIP Counselor provides free, unbiased, localized counseling to Medicare beneficiaries. Their goal is to help people optimize access to care and benefits, ensuring they’re getting the most out of their health insurance.
