10:15 am to 11:45 am It's all Downhill from Here, or is it? Cognitive Decline after Nursing Home Admission and How to Prevent it
Dr. Joshua Lavigne and Dr. Jacy Holmes, NeuroClinic & Assessments
Drs. Josh LaVigne and Jacy Holmes will discuss factors leading to cognitive decline after being admitted to a nursing home. They will also discuss preventative measures that can be taken by facilities, families, and individuals.

Communication with a Person Living with Dementia often can be very difficult. Having a few tools to work with can sometimes help. In this interactive session, Chris Petrik will talk about developing relationships with a Person Living with Dementia, the challenges of working within their ability to communicate and creating relationships that are positive and successful.

Greg Barry discusses dementia and different legal angles. What are the legal options when someone has dementia? How will they be treated by the court and by third parties? How can you pre-plan to cover some of those legal issues? What are some unexpected problems with the legal system that you might run into?

COST: $80 non-refundable

CREDIT HOURS: 6 CEUs awarded to nurses, social workers, professional counselors, and nursing home administrators.
