COVID-19 with McHenry County State's Attorney Patrick Kenneally

Monday 06/22/2020 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Zoom Webinar Presentation

After the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker issued a series of executive orders to slow the spread of the virus and prevent overload of the state’s health care system. These orders limited the size of public gatherings, suspended certain laws and agency operations, closed schools and nonessential businesses, and ordered residents to stay at home. Where do these executive powers come from and what is and isn’t allowed? Join McHenry County State’s Attorney Patrick Kenneally for a discussion on the laws that support this pandemic response.

Presented by Patrick Kenneally, McHenry County State’s Attorney
Patrick Kenneally was elected McHenry County State’s Attorney in 2016 after having served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for ten years. During his tenure, he has worked in every area of the office, prosecuting thousands of criminal cases and representing the County in legal matters.
Patrick believes it is his duty to seek justice by protecting victims’ rights without ever losing sight of his ethical responsibility to ensure the rights of defendants. He has been awarded the Turning Point Peace and Justice Award for his work on behalf of victims of domestic battery and currently serves on the Executive Board of the McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition.
Patrick earned his law degree from Washington University School of Law in 2005 and also has a Master’s Degrere in Environmental Law from the University of Vermont.
