Advocating for a Person Living with Dementia Transition to the Hospital - CE Event

Wednesday 01/29/2020 08:00 AM - 09:30 AM
Charter Senior Living of Poplar Creek
2150 West Golf Road, Hoffman Estates, IL 60169

Presented by Chris Petrik, Training Specialist, Elderwerks Educational Services

Understanding where your resident is in with their dementia
and understanding what they are able to process, and who they
are is helpful information when transiting to the hospital. The importance
of the family to advocate and let the health care team at the hospital understand
who their patient really is will help decrease the resident’s anxiety and behaviors. Less psychotropics are used when the Healthcare team can work with the resident as a person and not as a patient.
